About FCG
Friends of Children in Gomba (FCG) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting disadvantaged children in the Gomba District, Uganda. FCG’s founders, Samuel and Lucy – both local teachers – focus on providing orphans and other less-privileged children with essential resources and support to improve their lives and education.
In Gomba, widespread poverty means many children do not attend school despite Uganda’s policy of free education. Those who manage to enroll often drop out because they lack basic items such as exercise books, pens, pencils, school uniforms, and a meal at school.
Poor local families cannot afford these scholastic materials, and orphans staying with grandparents are especially vulnerable. As a result, some children leave school and begin working at a very young age to find food. This is where FCG steps in: we provide the essentials that keep children in class so they can grow into responsible citizens.
Apart from classroom teaching activities (English, Mathematics, Sciences, Social Studies, Physical Education), we promote their talents through sports, music, dance, recitation, and basic agricultural skills—so they can learn, thrive, and build confidence for the future.
Our aim is simple: remove the small barriers that cause big dropouts, keep children learning every day, and open real opportunities for tomorrow.
Starting small, FCG relied on community donations and our savings, but its impact grew as local leaders and volunteers joined the cause. Over time, we expanded to offer mentorship and psychosocial support, helping children build resilience and hope. By partnering with schools and families, FCG created a safety net for Gomba’s most vulnerable, enabling hundreds of children to stay in school and complete primary education.
Though challenges like funding persist, FCG’s work has transformed lives, giving disadvantaged children a chance to learn and dream. Our vision remains clear: To support that disadvantaged child in Gomba district become a better and responsible citizen tomorrow. Through FCG, we’ve sown seeds of change, fostering a brighter future for the children in the district.
Strive for future!

Donations
Your donation keeps a child in class. In Gomba, students drop out for simple, solvable reasons (no exercise book, uniform, meals…). Your gift directly covers these basics in local public schools: learning materials, uniforms, meals, clean water and safe places to play. Even a small contribution makes a real difference.
Volunteers
Join FCG in Kanoni, Gomba District. Volunteers support classrooms, sports and arts, basic digital work and community projects (meals, water, health).
